The Francis H. Haserot Legacy Society

Great communities don't just happen. They grow and thrive due to people’s vision, effort, and willingness to invest in the future.

The Francis H. Haserot Legacy Society is a group of dedicated individuals and families who have named the Leelanau Township Community Foundation as a beneficiary of any type of planned or deferred gift.

The society’s purpose is to acknowledge and thank those who have made these gifts, and to encourage and inspire others to do the same. Members of the society care about the Northport and Omena community and appreciate the power of endowment. They recognize the Foundation’s ability to manage their assets carefully and allow them to grow, thus supporting important work for generations to come.

The society is named after Francis H. Haserot, who in 1945 gave $35,000 in memory of G. Marsten Dame. It was this gift that established the Foundation.

How do I join the Francis H. Haserot Society?

  1. Arrange for a planned gift to the Foundation in consultation with your attorney or financial advisor.

  2. Inform the Foundation that you have made arrangements for a planned gift in your will or estate plan.

The Foundation will never inquire about the amount of your bequest, but we encourage you to discuss the intent of your gift with us to ensure that we comply with your wishes.

Bequests from a will are the most common way to leave a future gift to the Foundation. However, there are many other ways including making the Foundation a beneficiary of 401(k)/IRA plans and insurance policies. We are ready to work with your professional advisers to determine the best way for you to give.
